Support with the development of an Integrated Medicine practice

Healthy Bristol aims to encourage the development of Integrated Medicine within the Bristol community and NHS by providing guidance and/or consultative services to:

  • Help set up IM services within mainstream healthcare settings;
  • Give guidance in the use of Integrated Medicine;
  • Provide access to Integrated Medicine education services;
  • Provide access to Integrated Medicine research data;
  • Provide access to information about the practical, legal, financial and governance issues involved in integrating a CAM service within medical practice;
  • Provide access to high quality resources through the Healthy Bristol and Bath Integrated Medicine Directory.

Examples of existing IM services within mainstream healthcare settings:

  • The Bristol NHS IM services registered in section 5 of the Directory,
  • The United Bristol Healthcare Trust (UBHT) who have a complementary therapies advisory group (CTAG) I, chaired by Dr David Spence, Clinical Director and Consultant Physician at the UBHTxs Directoate of Homeopathic Medicine Consultant, Bristol Homeopathic Hospital. This facilitates the active provision of complementary therapy (CT) as part of integrated medical care for UBHTxs patients. CTAG monitors and develops the use of CT protocols throughout the UBHT.
  • The Foundation for Integrated Health Integrated who have studied the best national examples of Integrated Medicine practice and published early findings in:
